This might seem extreme for a missionary hair-do.  It's called plaiting, and is very common among the African women. If it's not plaited, they wear wigs.  This wouldn't even raise an eyebrow here in Liberia.  She said it took about 30 minutes to do her hair!

This fire forced us inside.  We couldn't breath the smoke.  They are burning "dirt", or trash as we call it.  This one went on for hours!

Bird Nest Trees

This is a Bird Nest Tree.  I'm sure the tree has another name,
but it called that because of the bird nest built in it. We see
them all over in the villages.

Close up of the Bird Nest Tree.  The interesting thing about these nests is that the opening is on the down side.  I haven't seen a baby bird fall out yet!

No Fancy gyms for these Liberians.  They are amazingly strong.

Back to the Ducor Hotel

 Way back when I had a computer, I posted a view from our
   compound of the Ducor Hotel, and then I dropped the ball.
         I was totally taken in  by this place, so I'm starting again with
 the front view.  

I just loved this old rotting chair that was left

     It's kind of eerie.  The windows, of course are gone, but 

on the view from the 3 foot wide walk way is spectacular.

Welcome to Elder and Sister Ekufu, Senior Couple from Nigeria

We're sure happy to have the Ekufu's with us.  They are wonderful people and will make a great addition to our mission.

I was so happy to see these "Kirkland" brand nuts in the store.  Almonds $34.95, Pecans $36.95, Pine Nuts $65.95  Yikes!

Harvest from Liberia!

This is a sorry excuse for a garden.  I will plant again and see if we can't get better results.  It's planting time all year around, here!

10 candidates for baptism

New Kru Town Primary - 54 in attendance

There were 54 children in attendance at Primary this past Sunday in this little crowded Primary room. Fortunately, they have moved the generator from right next door, so they can now hear their president speak!  They are darling and happy and love to have their pictures taken.

We received MANY Christmas cards from ALL Over

Some of our missionaries holding a sample of Christmas cards they received from loving people from all over the United States.  Each card was cherished and appreciated.  We received enough cards for our 50 African missionaries and our 40 missionaries from all over the United States, Great Britain, Tonga, Samoa, and the Philippians.  This was such a loving gesture that touched everyone's hearts.
